Homemade Mac and Cheese!

Darrien and I went to the store this evening.  Among the many things that we wanted to grab off of the shelves, was a box a macaroni noodles (for that one-of-a-kind shakability, no doubt).  While he was happily shaking away at his box-o-pasta I suddenly heard what sounded like a choir of angels from above.  As I looked up and the drop-ceiling tiles parted, a bright light shone down from the sky, and a 2 lb brick of creamy, delicious Velveeta floated gently down into my cart!  …or maybe I turned down the next aisle and saw it on the shelf.

In any case, this was surely a sign!  So when we got home, I immediately took to making some macaroni and cheese.  As you can see below, it received the Darrien mouthful-of-approval!

Ending up the round of photos is a shot of Darrien wearing his “One-derful” hat and playing with a popgun 🙂

Halloween 2011 in a word, Ghostly!

We had a really nice time with all of our Halloween activities this year.  We went to the pumpkin patch in Lathrop, got and hollowed out 5 pumpkins, made 4 Jack-O-Lanterns (do the math), made a really cute little ghost costume for Darrien, went Trick or Treating near downtown, and even got back in time to hand out some candy to the local kids.  It was quite the success when it was all over.  And there there was that special moment that everyone has been waiting for.  The CADNY! (ah yes, there was candy).  Though I expected that Darrien would shove the whole thing in his mouth like a starved monkey, he actually savored and inspected his candy. For the first bite anyways…  After that, his mouth was stuffed with that one morsel of candy until his cheeks looked like a chipmunk with a winter’s worth of nuts to hide.  Take a look for yourself Smile
